Overview

AASA was a spontaneous idea that we ( the co-founders) had while eating a mournful breakfast. We had all just seen a news article, in which a child was brutally sexually assaulted. We started discussing the reason for which children have become one of the prime targets of these sexual predators, and came to the conclusion that it was due to their naivety. We were so affected by the incident that we decided to do something to contribute to the prevention of such incidents in the future. AASA believes that the best prevention is education.
IDENTIFICATION
We started the process by holding introductory sessions in which we identified different types of good touch and bad touch, different emotions we feel when we are different people such as friends, family and strangers.

In grade 6, we went into further detail of terms like sexual assault and consent. We also showed case studies such as the Me Too Movement and other statistics to help the kids identify how prevalent the issue is.
PREVENTION
We then moved onto teaching methods of prevention such as setting up a safety password with your family members. We also talked about the importance of communication.
Furthermore, we talked about the importance of being an upstander. When you see something wrong going on, it is your moral responsibility to report it.

We also taught the kids several self-defence techniques so in case something might happen, they can protect themselves.
